Project Description

This project's goal is to see 4-H Foundation of Alberta (Alberta 4-H) become self-sufficient. The Rural Alberta Development Fund's support has enabled the development of a new funding model in Westerose that will nearly triple Alberta 4-H's program income in ten years, substantially reduce its reliance on government funding, and position it to engage in new and innovative programming.

Expected Outcomes and Benefits

All projects go through a selection process to ensure they will improve the quality of life for Albertans. This project meets this objective through the following outcomes and benefits:

  • Renew sponsorship commitments and develop new sponsorship partnerships
  • Sustain and enhance Fund Development Team through additional staff
  • Give Alberta 4-H greater stability and self-sufficiency
  • Decrease Alberta 4-H’s reliance on government funding substantially
  • Allow for development of new programming for rural Alberta youth (Alberta 4-H has increased its financial resources by $6 million)
  • Provide example of how the broader community will support a rural program, even in leaner economic times, if the approach and management structure is right
