Project Description

The Alberta Energy Corridor Marketing Initiative in the Athabasca Redwater District will attract traditional and alternative energy sector industries to five growth nodes in the Alberta Energy Corridor area between Boyle and Wandering River along Highway 63. A marketing strategy is promoting the corridor locally, nationally, and globally as a viable economic alternative to higher-cost regions.

Expected Outcomes and Benefits

All projects go through a selection process to ensure they will improve the quality of life for Albertans. This project meets this objective through the following outcomes and benefits:

  • Seven new companies have expressed interest in locating themselves in the corridor since the program’s launch
  • Develop and implement an investment attraction strategy to bring new businesses, industries, and investment dollars to the Alberta Energy Corridor
  • Increase economic growth for communities in and surrounding the five growth nodes
  • Develop and implement marketing plan that can be easily adapted by other rural communities and regions
  • Generate more employment and economic development for local residents
