Project Description

Support from the Rural Alberta Development Fund is enabling a rural tourism program in east-central Alberta to become self-sustaining. A new three-year marketing plan called the Buffalo Adventures Marketing Initiative is drawing more visitors to the Wainwright and Provost regions to take part in multi-day rural and historical experiences. Tour packages are fully customized to provide unique, authentic, and entertaining Alberta experiences for each visitor.

Expected Outcomes and Benefits

All projects go through a selection process to ensure they will improve the quality of life for Albertans. This project meets this objective through the following outcomes and benefits:

  • Increase in the region’s tourism revenue
  • Diversify the area’s agriculture and rural tourism businesses
  • Increase appreciation for the region’s culture and history
  • Obtain provincial and national media attention due to marketing and promotion activities
  • Increase knowledge base for rural tourism marketing
  • Provide an economic boost for communities in the region through increased tourism activities
