Project Description

The Tomorrow's Promise Today project created virtual learning and business centres in the Three Hills Municipal Library and Hanna Learning Centre. These centres give residents in east-central Alberta better access to Alberta's SuperNet. In addition to videoconferencing for everything from medical appointments to business meetings, a number of new videoconference and online learning programs have been implemented. These resources have been made available to surrounding towns and villages.

Expected Outcomes and Benefits

All projects go through a selection process to ensure they will improve the quality of life for Albertans. This project meets this objective through the following outcomes and benefits:

  • Provide leading-edge information technology that removes barriers and expands access to training and post-secondary education in rural communities
  • Increase local capacity to meet the region’s needs
  • Provide increased access to programs through broadband that otherwise could only be obtained in larger centres, which saves people travel time and money
  • Improve information technology infrastructure in east-central Alberta
  • Ensure more education and training choices are available to rural students in and around Three Hills and Hanna
