Close Remains Focused on Rural Economic Development

October 26, 2010

Longtime RADF board member Jon Close recently announced that he would be leaving the organization in order to dedicate more time to his role as Executive Director of Community Futures Alberta.

Close, a Cochrane resident, had been a member of the Board since its inception in 2006.

"I was interested in serving rural Alberta through start-up and the early operations of RADF. In particular, I was and continue to be interested in initiatives that build capacity to create economic diversification in rural Alberta. RADF provided access to critical funding to assist initiatives and community projects that has and will continue to build capacity in rural Alberta," Close said of his desire to work with the organization.

Close says that in his opinion one of the great success stories to emerge from RADF to this point is the number of funded project that have or will build economic development and leadership capacity across rural Alberta.

Close will continue to support rural economic development through the provincial Association of Community Futures. "My office and our 27 Alberta Community Futures branches feel it is vitally important to continue to partner with RADF as rural Alberta continues to develop."
