Project Description

Support from the Rural Alberta Development Fund is enabling the Forestburg-based Battle River Railway (BRR) to improve grain marketing opportunities through new technology and advanced programming in composite train grading, identity preservation, and tracking. Composite train grading will allow regional farmers to customize grain shipments to best meet customer requirements, thereby optimizing the grain's value.

Expected Outcomes and Benefits

All projects go through a selection process to ensure they will improve the quality of life for Albertans. This project meets this objective through the following outcomes and benefits:

  • Increase economic prosperity for local producers and communities
  • Increase economic opportunities for non-producers due to local ownership and management
  • Give grain producers in the region a new avenue to market their crop
  • Allow producers to custom-tailor their grain shipments
  • Retain choice for area producers
